OBITUARY: David L. Webster - Wenona - David L. Webster, 80, formerly of Wenona, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at his home in Westminster, Md., where he had been living for the past five years. He was born in Wenona, a son of the late David Webster and Mae Virginia Daniels Webster. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Wenona, where he taught Sunday School, and was a member of the United Methodist Men. For more than 30 years he was sexton and custodian of St. Paul's Cemetery in Wenona, and a member of Gideons International and the MAC Center in Deal Island. During World War II, he served in the Army of the United States as a staff sergeant in the European Theater of Operations with the 83rd Infantry Division. He was a retired merchant. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nora Lee Webster, at home in Westminster, and formerly of Wenona; three sons, David Neil Webster of New Castle, Del., the Rev. Dr. Wallace "Wally" Webster of Mount Airy, Md., and Pastor Tim Webster of Westminster; a daughter, Christine Evans of Finksburg, Md.; a brother, Larry Tawes of Salisbury; two sisters, Edwina Parkinson and Gloria Benton, both of Wenona; 10 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, four step greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Delmas Webster, and a sister, Olive Donalds, are deceased. A funeral service was held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Wenona, where friends were invited to call one hour prior to the services. His sons, the Rev. Dr. Wallace Webster and Pastor Tim Webster, officiated. Interment followed in St. Paul's Church Cemetery in Wenona. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be sent to St. Paul's Church Building Fund, c/o Joyce White, 9338 Deal Island Road, Wenona, Md. 21821; or to Carroll Hospice, 95 Carroll St., Westminster, Md. 21157. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
