Eliza Neely was a small woman, but born of sturdy folks with a background to be proud of. She was a firm, stern, kind and gentle Ozark Mt. Southern Baptist person. Her education was limited to grade school, but had a sense of learning by the experiences of war and life that made her Blessed to her Children and Grandchildren.
She was a corn cob pipe smoker, I remember her very well, sitting in her old highback rocker chair in her late years, her pipe a going and in her hand a fine tooth comb, after school she would make her Grandchildren kneel before her so she could fine tooth comb the hair looking for lice and rapping them on the head with her pipe if they did not sit still.
Grandmother Neely was loved by all her children and grandchildren, and was outstanding in her kindness and demaning for the truth and honesty. She cared for her family up to the day of her death, still active. She is buried at Chehalis, Lewis County, Washington in the Newaukum Cemetery, with her husband and other members of her family. taken from Ancestry World Tree Project at Ancestry.com Information submitted by Joanie Stoy. Correction: She is buried in the Fern Hill Cemetery, was the Urquhart Cemetery. Might have been the Newaukum Cem. before that. According to her death certificate she was buried in the Urquhart Cem.
