2004 W. C.R. 450-S, Lafayette, died
Tues., June 8, 1982, in St. Elizabeth
Hospital. She had been a patient
there three weeks and in ill health
two years.
Born at Lafayette and reared in
the Shadeland area, she had lived
several places, including Delphi. She
was a graduate of Shadeland High
School and Purdue University. A
former schoolteacher, she also had
taught piano. Her marriage was in
1949 to the Rev. Forest W. Howell,
pastor at Montmorenci and Mt.
Zion United Methodist Churches.
Active in community and civic affairs,
Mrs. Howell was a member of
the Montmorenci United Methodist
Church, where she was an organist,
PEO, League of Women Voters,
and Shadeland Community Club.
She served as chairman of Scholer
Home, was on the board of directors
at Group Homes, Inc., and also
served as past president of
American Association of University
Women at South Bend.
Surviving with her husband are
two sons, Todd J. Daniels-Howell
of Lafayette and Kevin W. Howell;
a daughter, Ellen Daniels-Howell of
Lafayette, and her mother,
Katherine Smith Baker of Frankfort.
Services were Friday evening in
Stidham United Methodist Church
with the Rev. Doyle Pavy, Rev.
Ralph Steele and Rev. Vernon
Bigler officiating. Those desiring
may contribute in memoriam to
Group Homes Endowment Fund,
3307 Longlois Dr., Lafayette.
