Obituary.

Joan A. Veale, teacher, beloved mentor of many, was born on April 10, 1922
in Bristow, Oklahoma. She departed this life on October 22, 2006 as
graciously and dignified as she lived. She moved to Harlingen, Texas in 1940
where she met her husband of 64 years, Reverend T. Ervin Veale. Their
marriage has been an example of Christian love and virtue. She obtained her
Bachelors degree at Texas A&I University in Kingsville and later received
her Masters degree from Trinity University. She was an accomplished
professional educator having served over 34 years in Northside and San
Antonio Independent School Districts. She was a member of the University
United Methodist Church and the Slater Sunday school class. She set an
example of Christian love and stewardship. She is survived by her husband
and by six San Antonio children: Theodore, Jr., John R. and wife Dorothy,
James G. and wife Patricia, Dr. Joan E. Laufman and husband Steve, Stephen
A. and wife Angie, and Judy V. Meals. Joan is also survived by 17
grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a
daughter Violet V. Vickery formerly of Panama City, FL and her brother John
H. Anderson.

Services

A visitation will be held from 6:00 -8:00 PM today, Tuesday, October 24,
2006 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Funeral services will be held at
10:00 AM Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at University United Methodist Church
5084 De Zavala Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78249 with Reverend Charles Anderson
and Reverend Greg Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Mission
Burial Park South 1700 SE Military Dr. A memorial fellowship will be held at
the John Wesley room at University United Methodist Church at 1:30 PM. In
lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Little Church of La Villita
or the University UMC music ministries..
