George William Bond was known as George or G.W. professionally, as Uncle Will by some of his family, and as Bond by his wife.

He graduated from Cincinnati, the University of Arkansas, and Columbia University in New York. He was an educator and started his teaching career in Cincinnati, Arkansas. He then taught in Springdale and Cane Hill, Arkansas. He and his wife moved to Texarkana where he became the principal of the high school. He moved on to teach English and then become president of Louisiana Tech University and then Southeastern Louisiana College. After retirement in Louisiana, they moved to Searcy, Arkansas where he established the advanced degree in Education. He and his wife retired to Fayetteville, Arkansas where they enjoyed gardening, entertaining, and traveling.

He served in World War I. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cincinnati, Arkansas. He was a Presbyterian.
