George Newton Crofoot was the son of Archibald D Crofoot and Ella L Fried. He was born and raised near Kendallville, Noble County, Indiana and one of nine children. George was very athletic and enjoyed swimming in the local lakes where when a young man he trained vigorously hoping to participate in the Olympics. George develop Polio as a young man which left him crippled for the remainder of his life. Despite his disability George was always happy and of upbeat attitude and was well repected by all who knew him. George married Margaret M Oberlin in Fort Wayne in 1944 and they resided there after in Garrett Indiana for 25 years. George worked for both the Bell Telephone Company and the Chub Bait Company in Garrett. After Margaret passed in 1967, George moved to Homestead, Florida to be closer to his sisters Mabel and Virginia.
