Earl Kennedy, 25, of Montoursville, was killed almost instantly when he crashed through the fence at the turn on the southern end of the half-mile oval on the first lap, of the initial elimination race. His light machine sped over the wooden barrier , after he had tugged at the steering wheel to save a youth who ran suddenly on the track.
Earl was driving a big (sprint) car at the time of the accident.
