Alfred William Paul of Springfield, was born on September 17, 1916, in Veneta, Ore., the son of Fredrick D. and Nora V. (Morton) Paul. He passed away on Friday, April 20, 2007, in St. John's Hospital at the age of 90. He drove for Greyhound Bus Lines for 38 years, retiring in 1981.
He married his loving wife Virginia L. (Samples) Paul August 1, 1942 in Reno, Nevada and returned to Lakeview, Oregon to make their first home.
His children are Don Paul and wife, Rita, of Ashland, Oregon and daughter Peggy Horn and husband, Ken, of Springfield, MO. His granddaughter Heidi (Paul) Westfall and husband Mike, of Yelm, WA have one son Andrew Westfall.
Alfred was widowed from Bessie (Rayson) Paul in 1942. They have one daughter Donna L. Paul of Klamath Falls, Oregon, who married Bob Lewis. Alfred's granddaughters from this marriage are Beverly Lewis Smith and Cathie Lewis. Beverly is married to Simon and they have two sons, Benjamin and Caleb. They live in Klamath Falls.
Celebration of life services were held on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte Chapel. Officiating was Ken Horn, musicians were Hilton Griswold and Dave Weston. Memorials were brought by his son Don and daughter Peggy and Hal Donaldson of Convoy of Hope.
