Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Colonel in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a First Lieutenant in the Ohio Light Artillery, 11th Battery for action on September 19, 1862 at Iuka, Mississippi. His citation reads "Although severely wounded, fought his battery until the cannoneers and horses were nearly all killed or wounded."
