Alonzo F. Meek, aged 43, a native of Orange, was killed instantly last night near Rosenberg, when his car turned over as he attempted to pass another car on the Houston highway. A woman and two men, hitch-hikers, who had been picked up by Meeks, were injured when the car overturned. The body of Meeks, accompanied by relatives, reached here at 11:30 this morning and after being prepared at the Wheeler funeral home, was taken to the home of Mr and Mrs Allen Capps at 1402 Fourteenth Street.

Surviving the deceased are three daughters, Mrs. Leoma Lassater and Misses Helen and Lonnie Meek; one son. A.F. Meek Jr, all of San Angelo; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Noguess, Mrs. Juel Duhon and Mrs A.L. Capps, all of Orange; two brothers, Florence Meeks of Orange and W.L. Meek of Orange.

Funeral services will be held from the residend of Mr and Mrs A.L. Capps at 1402 Fourteenth Street, at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon, with Rev E.T. Drake, pastor of the the First Presbyterian church, officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen cemetery under the directon of the Wheeler funeral home. Members of Iris lodge No. 286, I.O.O.F., will conduct ritualistic ceremonies at the grave.
