OBITUARY FROM "THE SPIRIT OF JEFFERSON"

Services were conducted Monday afternoon from the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home for Mrs. Elsie Irene Souers, 75, of 217 North Lawrence Street, Charles Town, who died last Thursday in Jefferson Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Frank James officiated, burial was in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The deceased was born February 27, 1910, in Jefferson County, daughter of the late John and Annie Boyd.

She was of the Protestant faith.

Her husband, Wilmer Lee Souers, preceded her in death March 3, 1977.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clayton "Ruby" Graham, 325 North Lawrence Street, Charles Town; Mrs. Thomas "Betty" Watson, 217 North Lawrence Street, Charles Town; three step-sons, Lee Souers, and Wilmer L. Souers, Jr., both of Florida, and Harry Souers, Jacksonville, Florida; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Griffith and Mrs. Lottie Anderson, both of Charles Town.

She was preceded in death by a step-son, Samuel Souers, by a sister, Agnes Anderson, and by a brother, Charles Boyd.
