Death: Jul. 18, 1933

He was married to Pearl C. Goodman.

Harry Merle Robertson, age 24, died in the Bloomington Hospital at 12:30 AM today from injuries received Saturday night when the car in which he was riding with Gerald Culross, 22, was wrecked on State Road 37 south of the city near Cedar Bluff dance hall. Culross, allegedly the driver of the car, will probably face a charge of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of his companion, Prosecutor Leroy Baker said today. The car in which the youths were riding had been stolen 45 minutes before the wreck from Grayson Nichols, 316 North College Avenue.

Coroner Ben R. Ross was conducting an inquest this afternoon into the death of Robertson and Prosecutor Baker said that unless additional evidence developed at the inquest, the manslaughter charge would be filed against Culross Wednesday morning. Culross was taken into custody two hours after the wreck. Information given Sheriff J. Lester Bender immediately after the wreck was that Culross had admitted that he was driving the stolen car, but he has since denied that he made the statement.

The Robertson youth was thrown from the machine and suffered a fracture at the base of the skulls. He was unconscious when picked up and remained in that condition until his death.

He is survived by his father, Leon Robertson, the mother, Mrs. Estella Robertson; three brothers, James, Ernest and Duncan Robertson; four sisters, Evelyn, Minnie, Mary and Ethel Robertson; and a half sister, Glenis Robertson, and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Siegel Robertson and Mrs. And Mrs. James Depew.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Day Chapel and will be in charge of the Rev. Joseph M. Campbell. Interment will be in Rose Hill.

The body will lie in state at the Day Funeral Home until Wednesday evening.
