Dorothy (Dottie) La Von Helton was born April 26, 1925, in Bowden, SD to George Wilfred Peterson and Anna Asta Brynjulson. She passed away peacefully on January 7, 2012 in Eureka, CA. Dottie grew up in Omaha, NE, where she lived until 1960. She moved to California City in 1972. Dottie will be remembered by many as the Office Manager of the California City Chamber of Commerce for over ten years,where whe spent much of her time attending events and promoting the city as a wonderful place to live. Dottie loved to travel and was devastated when a stroke in 2006 left her unable to do so. She will be greatly missed by her family;
Daughters Cynthia Gessner of California City, CA, and Claudia Loker of Omaha, NE; sons Donald Helton Jr. of Eureka,CA, and Douglas Helton of McKinnelyville, CA, seven granddaughters; and ten great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by the many friends in California City she left behind. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
