MRS. ANNIE BELLE AYERS CARROLL, 71, of Pickens, SC; former Toccoa and Stephens County citizen, died in Anderson Memorial Hospital Friday night, August 1.
The daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Henry Ayers, she was born October 7, 1909 in Stephens County and resided here for many years. Before retirement, she was affiliated with the R. L. Polk Company. She was a member of Mt. Grove
Baptist Church in Pickens. Her husband, the late Mrs. William Jesse Carroll, died April 1, 1980.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Spurgeon N. (Rebecca) Hinds of Albany and Mrs. Douglas (Mable) Simpson of Camilla; 2 sons, Joseph A. Carroll of Valdosta and James Gordon Carroll of Quitman; 28 grandchildren and 23 great
grandchildren.
Funeral was held Monday at 2 p.m. from Carnes Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Spearman and Rev. Wilton Pittman officiating. Interment was in Carnes Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
