He was a son of Ernest and Elizabeth (Kirkey) Durant. He attended Bombay High School. He was a self-employed dairy farmer for many years and prior to 1957, lived and farmed in the Massena area.
He married Jeanette Tilden in 1942.
Surviving was his wife; three sons, David of Lawrenceville, Rollin of Newton, NH and Calvin of Hampton Beach, NH; four sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Irene) Sanborn of Massena; Mrs. Thomas (Margaret) Steen of Bombay Massena, and Mrs. Clark (June) LaShomb of Norfolk; seven brothers, Edward and James of Massena, Harold of Rooseveltown, Donald and Herbert of Bombay, and Howard and Lloyd of Syracuse.
He was predeceased by a brother Bernard, and a sister, Odena.
