Sarah (Whitehead) Swift
Mrs. Sarah (Whitehead) Swift, 77, widow of Charles W. Swift for the past seven years a resident at the Lathrop Home, Northampton, Mass., formerly of this city, died July 2 after a long illness, resulting from a broken hip suffered October 12, last year. Mrs. Swift was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire county, England, April 23, 1856, the daughter of Mary and Seth Whitehead. She came to this country with her parents when a small child and had resided in that city 45 years. Her husband, Charles W. Swift died in 1924. Mrs. Swift was a deaconess in the First Baptist church and had been actively interested in the affairs of that church. She leaves one son, George S. Swift and four grandsons Gordon, Warren, Donald and Paul Swift all of Northampton; one niece, Miss Florence Merritt of this city and one nephew, Howard Wright of Waltham. The funeral was held July 3. Burial was in Spring Grove cemetery, Florence.
