He is survived by his loyal and loving wife, Jackie; and his three children, Theresa Browning, Steve Browning and his wife, Sue, Becky Ford and her husband, Buddy; and his sister, Dorothy Hair and her husband, James, of Florida.
He is also survived by four stepchildren, Carol, James and David Dickinson, of St. Augustine, Florida, and Paula Caroway and her husband, Duwayne, of Binghamton, New York. He leaves behind grandchildren, Tracy and Scott Seal and David and Timmy Berlin; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Browning; his son, Louis E. Browning Jr. "Boo"; and granddaughter, Denise Seal.
Mr. Browning was a lifelong resident of Short Pump. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a lifetime 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Westhampton Masonic Lodge, Acca Temple Shriners and the Klown Unit. He was a Henrico County police officer, starting his career in 1946 as a dispatcher and rising through the ranks to retire as a Lieutenant 39 years later in 1985.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 17 from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service beginning at 7:30 and a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, with burial at Deep Run Baptist Church Cemetery.
