PETERS, MAUDIE-
Age 88, passed away Saturday evening January 14, 2012 at her home. She was born on February 09, 1923 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky the daughter of Layne Sr. and Sally (Blackburn) Compton. Maudie had lived in the area since 1953 moving from Kentucky, she attended Jeruel Baptist Church in Munith and probably baby sat for about every child in Munith. On August 14, 1943 she married Bill Peters Sr. and he preceded her in death on August 7, 1981. Surviving are two children, Bill Jr. Peters of Munith and Roy (Karen) Peters of California and special nephew Felix Compton of Munith. One brother Layne (Bessie) Compton of Prestonsburg, KY., her brother and sister in laws, Ermogene Hamilton of KY., Roy Peters of Ohio, and Hubert Tackett of IN. She also was preceded in death by her son, Wade Peters, five brothers, Bill, Ray, Henry, Albert, Millard Compton; and three sisters, Mary Prater, Sadie Hall, and Rebecca Tackett as well as several brother and sister in laws. Funeral services will be Wednesday January 18, 2012 from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge with Rev. Robert Castle officiating. Burial will follow at Fitchburg Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Allegiance Hospice, or Jeruel Baptist Church.
