"Our Little Princess" as Lori was known to us, was our dear friend and ray of sunshine! Born in Odessa Texas on Oct. 29, 1967, we met Lori in Long Beach Ca in 1988, when her mother rented an apartment from us. From that moment on, we kind of adopted her as our little sister... and why not? She had no other siblings, and her mother liked us.

Lori was beautiful, and had this glow about her, especially when she smiled. Her favorite word was "care bears", and she attracted people where ever she went. She loved animals, loved to get parking tickets (haha), and never passed up an opportunity to dance or party. She later became our room-mate, and I remember on one occasion when Jack and I were killing snails in our yard, she got so upset and cried. She stopped everything she was doing to rescue them. Later that evening we laughed about it, painted colorful designs on their shells with her finger nail polish, and then set them free. She loved animals so much that she once pulled over on the side of the freeway, in the rain, to rescue an ugly mutt, which later became her beloved pet.

She married Greg Tupa in the mid 1990's who like us, loved her very much. I remember on her wedding day how overwhelmed I was because she looked just like an angel. So beautiful! We last saw Lori when she drove up from San Diego, and accompanied us to the Long Beach Gay Pride festival. We had a blast... danced, partied, and hung out all weekend together. She never judged anyone, but instead loved everyone! A month later she was tragically killed by a drunk driver who entered the freeway from the exit ramp, colliding with her. We miss her so much, and in our heart she will always live.

"Thank you Lori for being a part of our lives. We shall always remember you, and the joy you brought our way. We love you our little princess".

Love, Jim and Jack... your big brothers!

Memorial services were held July 10, 2000 at Glen Abbey Chapel of the Roses in Bonita, CA. Funeral services were held July 13, 2000 at Southside Baptist Church in Monahans.

Burial: Monahans Cemetery, Monahans, TX

As I write this, a song is playing on the stereo, "Heaven sent an angel into my life." Interesting!

Note: To our amazement, Lori's mom found this memorial accidently, which put us back in contact after many years. She advised me that the gentleman who collided with Lori was not drunk after all, according to toxicology reports. He was diabetic, left the hospital against medical advise, and became confused and lost, which is why he entered the exit ramp by mistake. Apparently the impact so so severe, it covered an area three football fields long. The other driver died the following day. Even as devestating as this was, I know Lori forgave him. Thats the kind of angel she is.
