Pioneer Woman of Community Passes Away

Mrs. Harriett M. Klein, one of the real pioneers of this section, passed away yesterday afternoon at her home southwest of town.

With her husband, John Klein, she moved to this community in 1898, and has resided on the home place since that time. Mr. Klein passed away fourteen years ago.

“Grandma” as she was known by all, is survived by three sons, John, Clark and Frank Klein, of this place, ten grandchildren and dix great-grandchildren. Six of the nine children in the immediate family preceded their mother in death. She reared one grandchild, Albert Klein, taking him to raise when he was but two weeks of age at the death of his mother.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. F. Thornton.

The remains will be laid to rest in Butler cemetery beside those of her husband and one son, Carl. The Butler Herald, Thursday, November 18, 1937


Harriet Clark and John Klein were married 09 Oct 1867 at Pleasant Hill, Winona, MN. They were the parents of nine children all born in Hokah, Houston, MN. Seven are linked below; the other two are:
