Graveside services for Zelma Lee Monday, 91, of Longview will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, May 28, 2004, in Shady Grove Cemetery in Winnsboro with the Rev. Bryan Peck officiating. Arrangements are by Sullivan Funeral Home of Marshall. Mrs. Monday died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, in Longview.
She was born Feb. 1, 1913, in Wood County to George T. Powell and Lydia Swann Powell. She received her education in Wood County Public Schools. She married Charlie Dee Monday in 1932 in Titus County. She was a homemaker and member of the Baptist denomination.
Mrs. Monday was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Dee Monday, and her daughter and son-in-law Jackie and Jessie Acker.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bufford and Blanche Monday of Minden, La., Mack and Toby Monday of Kilgore of Kilgore and Charles "Tex" and Sheila Monday of Greenwood, Mo.; daughters and sons-in-law Beth and Joe Griffin of Longview and Norma and Harold Brooks of Jefferson; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Millie Brooks, a very special friend all through the years as well as her caregiver. Also, special thanks to Linda Thompson, Lois Tennison and Bryan Peck of Greater Hospice of Longview.
Mrs. Monday's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
