Gloria Leah (Brosius) Peffley, 81, of Millersburg passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert L. Peffley.

Born on June 18, 1930, she was the daughter of William C. Brosius and his wife, Florence Alva Kieffer. Both were descendants of founders of Himmel's Lutheran Church, established in the Schwaben Creek in 1772. After an idyllic childhood in one of the last remaining Pennsylvania German speaking communities, Gloria studied at Millersville University, where she met and married Robert L. Peffley. Together, they lived in San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Milheim, PA, eventually settling in Norwich, New York, raising four children along the way. In retirement, Gloria and Robert returned to Pennsylvania, traveling across the country frequently to visit friends, relatives, and especially their beloved grandchildren, who will remember their grandmother for her sweet and loving disposition and her cooking and baking which provided the setting for family get-togethers.

She is survived by her husband Robert; son Michael Peffley, daughter Cynthia Rogers, son Robert Peffley and wife Barbara, and daughter Teresa Cooper and husband Lee; nine grandchildren: Amanda, Jennifer, and Nathan Rogers; Alex, Nikolay, Gennady, and Veronica Peffley; Nicholas and Sophie Cooper; four brothers, Glen, James, Robert and Richard Brosius; two sisters, Corrine Rothermel and Leona Latshaw; three aunts, Maizie Snyder, Irma Rebuck and husband John, and Anna Hampton; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Viewing will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Himmel's Church, Rebuck from 11:30-12:30 PM, where the funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM with Rev. Jane Compton officiating. Interment will follow in Himmel's Cemetery.

The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Rd., Klingerstown has charge of the arrangements.
