Scientist and geographer. One of the great names of not only Serbian but European science. He founded the Serbian Geographic Association and he was the President of the Serbian Academy of Sciences. Honouree doctor of Paris Sorbonne and Karl University in Prague. He studied Serbia and the Balkan peninsula and by its science he laid the foundations of scientific geography, geo-morphology and athro-geography in Serbia. He was awarded numerous honours and left a great number of scientific works. He left his entire property as a legacy to the Serbian people and the Serbian geographic association. The highest peak of the mountain Rudnik is called Cvijic peak. Chairman of the Serb Royal Academy. Except in Belgrade, he also taught at Sorbonne and was holder of an honorary Ph.D. and honorary member of academies in several countries in the world.
