At the age of 3, Ralph's mother died in 1898. The family was in the 1900 census in Nodaway, Iowa. By 1910, they had moved to Washington, Taylor, Iowa. He was living at home with his family, attending school and working as a laborer on the family farm. Ralph married Etta P. Morgan May 15, 1915, in Oregon, Holt, Missouri. In 1917 they were living in Forbes, Holt, Missouri when he registered for WWI draft, he was working as an agent and operator, but I couldn't make out who he worked for. His nearest relative was his wife. He was medium in build and height and had blue eyes and brown hair. In 1920, they were renting their home in Atchison, Nodaway, Missouri. Ralph was working as a wireless operator for the railroad. Shirley May (Ledgerwood) Kolsrud arrived September 11, 1920. By the 1930 census they were living in Hamburg, Fremont, Iowa, where they were renting for $20 and he was working as an agent for the railroad. He died at age 69.
