The young man was 22 years old and in the last years was employed as a farm hand at different places in the neighborhood where he gained the esteem of his employers through his friendly disposition and attention to duty.
He left here March 29th for Camp Custer and was later transferred to Camp Gordon, Ga., and Camp McClellan, Ala., and started on his trip overseas June 15th, landing in France June 28th. On Sunday a memorial service was held at the Lutheran Trinity church by Rev. O. E. Schmidt.
His parents, two brothers and three sisters survive him.
