Ruth Estelle Spradlin Lawhorn, 94, of Vinton, Va., passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Friendship Health and Rehab Center. She was born on July 27, 1917, in Bedford County. She was a beloved wife and mother. She was a member of Jeters Chapel Church of the Brethren in Bedford County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter W. Spradlin and Angie Woolridge Spradlin; a daughter, Nadine Lawhorn; six brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years, John Hubert Lawhorn, of Vinton; son, Dallas Avery Lawhorn, of Roanoke; daughter, Joan Lawhorn Jenkins, of Vinton; three grandchildren; several great- grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Paul Stover officiating. Interment will follow in Jeters Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 2011, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel.
