He was born on Labor Day, September 7, 1936, in West Point, TX and spent his formative years in Ferris, TX. He attended Spence Junior High School and graduated from North Dallas High School in 1954, where he was a member of the football team. His first "real" job was with George L. Dahl Architects & Engineers. He went to work for Kraft Foods of Garland in 1959 and eventually moved to California in 1971 to work at Kraft there. He retired from Kraft in 1998. Vinton joined the Marine Corps Reserve in 1954 where he attained the rank of E4. He was awarded the Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, which was the highest medal a peacetime reservist could receive. He was honorably discharged in 1962. He was so proud to be a Marine! After Vinton retired, he enjoyed doing volunteer work with the Sheriffs Dept. and one of the area hospitals. He was on the Board of his local Homeowner's Association. He loved doing genealogy and has extensive information on his family.
