Zimmer Hayes Rites Tuesday

Centerville — Zimmer Albert Hayes, resident of 816 W. Garfield St., passed away
Sunday, November 22, 1970 at St. Joseph’s hospital at the age of 78 years, one
month, 27 days. He was born in Mendota, Mo. September 25, 1892, the son of John
and Sarah Hayes.
He married Lucreta Belle Whitall who precede him in death December 18, 1957.
The following children survive, Clifford LeRoy Hayes, Des Moines, Bufford
Albert Hayes, Des Moines, Mrs. Olive Loretta Sleeth, Des Moines, Mrs. Wilma
Belle Shondell, Centerville, Mrs. Edna Pearl Wales, Davenport, Wilbur John
Hayes, Centerville, Ronald Edward Hayes, Rathbun, Bert Edison Hayes, Dubuque,
Miss Janie Colleen Hayes at home.
Other survivors include 55 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Iva Williams, Centerville; two
brothers, Carl Hayes, Centerville and Bert Hayes of Huntington Park, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two sons.
Mr. Hayes was a member of the Nazarene Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Johnson Funeral
Home with Rev. Ralph Thompson officiating and burial in the Dale Cemetery.
