update 12/24/2012 from Abigail Deeter:

According to a personal memoir of Nancy's husband, John, This is what he wrote:
"I was born in Pennsylvania, Westmoreland County, Ligonier valley, on April 21, 1812. I resided there til 3 years, moved to Washington County, Pennsylvania, rented a mill there for 2 years, then moved on a farm where my father died. Moved from there to Claremont County 24 miles east of Cincinnati. Two girls Eliza and Catherine were married and remained in Pennsylvania. We lived in Claremont County until married to Nancy N. Porter. The offspring of that marriage was five boys and three girls. After the birth of the second child I moved to Cincinnati in 1836, then moved to the state of Indiana. I learned the trade of stone mason and followed it for five years. Joined the M.E. church at 15 yers old, lived a constant Christian until 1849. In said year moved to Madison County, Indiana, and have resided in said county since my first wife died on the first day of January, 1870. On September 19, 1872, married Sarah Cole, since which we have lived together very happy. United with the U.B. church in January 1870. JOHN ANSHUTZ" -
The date listed for marriage of John & Nancy is the date the license was obtained. Their marriage record reads "July 30, 1833". I have a copy of the marriage record if needed & source citations for who currently possesses the memoir of John & his second wife Sarah (Perkins) [Cole] Anshutz.
