William W. is the son of Reese and Mary "Polly" (Adkins) Berry, both born in Tennessee. The family moved to Illinois sometime between October 1850 and 1853. William married Mary Ann Hamilton, daughter of Daniel Hamilton and his wife Nancy. His death certificate says he died of typho malarial fever.
