Originally known as Friedrich, he was the son of Philipp and Marie (Anna Marie Weber) Kreischer. An immigrant from "Bavaria"/Germany (Alsenz, Pfalz?), he came to the U.S. with his wife and infant son Carl on the ship Yorktown from London to New York City, arriving 2 July 1857. The family settled in Syracuse, New York and had at least seven more children. They lived on Ash Street in Syracuse for many years. Frederick worked as a salt boiler, a laborer, and a mason. He died at home of "liver complaint" (cirrhosis of the liver, duration 3 months, according to attending physician, Dr. L.A. Saxer) and was buried March 9, 1892. His last address was 412 Ash Street, Syracuse.

The following death notice appeared in the Syracuse Journal, page 5, with a very similar notice in the Syracuse Herald, page 4 (both on March 7, 1892):

"KREISCHER--In this city, on the 5th inst., Frederick Kreischer, aged 65 years, 10 months, and 25 days.

"Funeral services at his late residence, 412 Ash-st., Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Friends are invited."

Onondaga County has no record of his death; however The State of New York Department of Health, Vital Records Section in Albany does have his Certificate of Death on file (no. 13477).

It is thought he was a Kreischer fifth cousin once removed to Johann Jacob Kreischer, another Syracuse immigrant from the Pfalz.
