Services for Joseph B. Arnold, 88, of Lufkin, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 in the Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Ford Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery in Nacogdoches.

Mr. Arnold was born August 27, 1923 in Blum, Texas, the son of the late Agnes (Adams) and Burl Joseph Arnold. He passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 in a local hospital. Mr. Arnold was retired from Lufkin Industries, where he worked as a molder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, telling jokes, and living life to its fullest. Mr. Arnold served his country with the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Crosstimbers Cowboy Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Arnold of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Doris Arnold of Dayton, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Larry Berry of Cleveland; granddaughters, Stacey DeLoney, Cheryl Arnold, April Reiss, and Amy Cooper; great-granddaughters, Sara Reiss and Shae Reiss; great-grandsons, Larry Peltier, Daniel DeLoney, Garrett Mihn, Bailey Cooper and Colton Cooper; sister, Jeannette Hylwak of Ambridge, Pennsylvania; special niece and caregiver, Ruth Lofton; and a number of other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim Arnold and Arthur Arnold; and sisters, Omega Sibley, Doris Pollock and Pauline Longino.

Pallbearers will be Art Arnold, Brent Rich, Randy Capps, Roy Taylor, Manuel Rodrigues and Isodro Madrigl. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Sibley, Brian Rich, Curtis Willis, Rodger Harbuck, Larry Peltier and Victor Wayne Mihm. The family will receive friends from noon until service time on Thursday at Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home.
