FAIRMONT Opal Grace Cross Bobbert, 91, of Metz, passed away Thursday (May 13, 2010) at the Tygart Center in Fairmont.

She was born March 9, 1919, at Mannington, a daughter of the late Eli Spencer and Rosa May Leasure Villers.

She is survived by one daughter, Juanita Pyles of Metz; one son, Raymond Cross and wife Patty of Volant, Pa.; two brothers, Grover Thomas Villers and wife Doris of Metz and James Villers and wife Margaret of Washington, Pa.; two sisters, Edna Thomas of Metz and Erma Prather and husband James of Metz; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Everett Cross, and her second husband, William Bobbert; two brothers, Charles and Ray Villers; one sister, Ethel Anderson; two grandsons, Richard Lee Pyles Jr. and Raymond Cross Jr.; and one great-grandson, Shane Napalo.

Opal was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Metz for more than 70 years and she served as a Sunday school teacher and song leader. She flew with the White Angel Fleet distributing literature for the church. She was known for her homemade bread, pies and noodles.

Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, from 2 to 9 p.m. today. Mrs. Bobbert will lie in state at the Church of God of Prophecy at Metz from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, the time of the funeral service with Pastor Stan Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
