"Fatal Accident. – A sad and fatal accident, resulting from the accidental discharge of a rifle, occurred on last Thursday afternoon, under somewhat strange and peculiar circumstances. Jimmy McGee, the individual shot, had come to town in the forenoon, with a load of coal, and when on his return, put a loaded rifle in his wagon. When opposite the mouth of Oro Fino gulch, the rifle, from some cause or another, went off, the ball striking him on the left side of the back, in the region of the sixth rib, and ranging down, lodged in the right hip. He survived about twelve hours after he was shot, and experienced but little pain." The Montana Post, Virginia City, Montana Territory, 4/13/1867, page 8.

Received Sacraments. Presiding Priest: Francis Kuppens, SJ.
