STEVENS THOMPSON NORVELL (born October 7, 1865 in Virginia -died February 2, 1901), worked in the mining business. He moved to Wisconsin in 1888 and was engaged in the construction of he Great Northern Railway's eastern division into Superior and Duluth. He also was president of the Superior improvement company, the Allouez Bay Land Company, and the Duluth and Superior Bridge and Steamship companies. He died while en route to New Orleans and an article appeared in the Superior Wisconsin Newspaper: S.T. Norvell Dies Today While on A R.R. Train New Orleans, Feb. 2. --S.T. Norvell of West Superior, Wis., died suddenly today on board the Southern Pacific train just before it reached this city.

Word was received this noon of the death of Stevens T. Norvell. Mr. Norvell died while on his way from New Orleans to Texas, where he was to have met Frank A. Ross of this city.
The death took place while the decedent was on the railroad train going through Algiers, La., a station a few miles from New Orleans, practically a part of New Orleans.
Meager particulars were received about the occurrence.
