Mrs. Marietta Watson
Dies following Three
Months of Illness

Following three, months of critical
illness, Mrs. Marietta C. Watson, 63
years old died at 11 p.m. Tuesday at
her home in the south part of town,
where she had been in business for the
past 35 years. Death was due to
carcinoma of the pancreas.
Mrs. Watson was born January 22,
1875 in Rockville a daughter of Wil-
liam and Mary Treseler Wood. She
was united in marriage to Monroe
Watson who preceded her in death 16
years ago. They moved to Montezuma
36 years ago and for the past 35
years was in either the restaurant or
grocery store business. At the time of her
death Mrs Watson was in charge of
a grocery store.
Suriving are four sons, George
Dugger of Lyford, Fred and Merrill
Watson of Montezuma and Jerry Wat-
son, whose whereabouts are unknown.
Three sisters, Mrs. Effie Becklehimer,
Mrs. Ida McNorton of Marshall and
Mrs Anna Barnaby of near Mecca also
survives besides a brother, Charles
Wood of Rockville.
Funeral services will be conducted
at 2 p.m. Thursday at the home
with Rev A. L. Vermilion, officiat-
ing. Burial will be made in Oakland
cemetery with Clyde Brown undertaker
in charge.
