The four surviving children, Herbert, Frederick, George, and Belden were all listed in the 1920 Census in Fenner, Madison County, NY, taken January 2 & 3, 1920.
After Mary died, William put (all or some of) his children in an orphanage. The 1925 New York State Census lists George and Belden at the Onondaga Orphans Home in Syracuse (960 Salt Spring Road). There is a Fred Darling living in Manlius with Fred and Lizzie Robbins.
Belden was taken in by Forrest and Flora Kellogg Whitmarsh in 1930, and took their name.
No further information has been found for Herbert.
