Daughter of Dr. Nathaniel Newton Allen and Mildred (Wisner) Allen.

She was born on May 13, 1944 in Burlington, Vermont. She moved to Madison with the family in 1945. Her father establish the first special education program in rural Dane County which allowed Sarah to get a good education. Later, her mother sold 13 acres on which they lived to the Madison Area Retardation Council. The council built a facility called Orchard Hill (honoring the orchard her parents had planted there). The facility had group cottages for about 100 residents, and Sarah was the first resident to move into the facility.

Sarah will always be remembered as an outgoing, loving person by all who knew her. Sarah loved music and participated in the Very Special Arts Choir. She retired from Valley Packaging and Hardees and enjoyed retirement at the MARC Retirement Center.

A celebration of Sarah's life was held at Fitchburg Christian Fellowship Church on Fish Hatchery Road in Madison, Wisconsin on November 11, 2011.

Sarah's Siblings are:
Patricia (Allen) Cattellino (Saxon, WI) (married Joseph Cattelino, children: Bob Cattellino)

James Allen (Blythewood, SC) (Wife Alice, children: Lisa)
