Matriculated sizar from Trinity College, Cambridge, 1570, where he achieved the degrees of B.A., 1575/76, M.A. 1579, and B.D., 1586. He was ordained a deacon at London, June 10, 1584, and a priest at Lichfield, June 15, 1584.

Died testate with a will dated March 24, 1611/12, which was proved at Lincoln, May 9, 1612. His will includes bequests of grain and livestock, money, and the lease of his house in Boston. In addition he bequeathed his books to his brother Anthony Ingoldsby and Thomas Woll, minister of Boston.
