Chauncey G Arnold is the first of three children of Thomas and Joanna Medbury Arnold. Chauncey was first married in 18 Apr 1830 to Charlotte Huntley and they had at least eight children: Irene Adelaid (1831-1892), Alvin Lewis (1833-1891), Susan Ann (1835-1866), Henrietta J (1837-1916), Betsey Adeline (1938-), Edwin Ruthvin (1841-1881), May Lucretia (1844-1921), and Joseph Henry (1846-). Chauncey's first wife Charlotte died 22 Jul 1849.
Chauncey then married Elizabeth "Betsey" Moyer in 1860 and she died in 1873. He then married Jane E Cooley in 1874.
Chauncey's father was Thomas Arnold, his grandfather was Jabez Arnold and his great-grandfather was Caleb Arnold. Caleb Arnold the Patriot is the ancestor who assisted in establishing American Independence, while acting in the capacity of serving on war committees and as Deputy 1773-1778 of Gloucester, RI. He had eight sons and three son-in-laws in the army. Jabez Arnold was a private in Captain Stephen Kimball's Company in Col. David Hitchcock Regt. of the army of Observation 1775. He saw service at Bunker Hill and during war. Chosen Ensign Feb 1777 Second Battalion RI troops and promoted to Lieutenant Gloucester Fifth Company in 1792 and again promoted to Captain of same Company in June 1794.
