Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served during the Civil War as a Corporal in Company H, 93rd New York Volunteer Infantry. In the Battle of Spotsylvania, Virginia on May 12, 1864, he captured the Confederate flag of the 42nd Virginia Infantry, which eanred him the CMOH. His Medal was awarded to him on December 1, 1864.
