Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a First Sergeant in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Corporal in Company I, 55 Illinois Infantry for action on May 22, 1863 at Vicksburg, Mississippi. His citation reads "Gallantry in the charge of the "volunteer storming party." (bio by: Don Morfe)
