A funeral for James B. Pointer, 80, of Scottsbluff, who died June 24, at the Scottsbluff hospital, was held Tuesday at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Pastor J. Russell Matzke officiating. Burial was in Fairview cemetery at Scottsbluff.

Memorials have been established to the Nebraska Boy's Ranch at Alliance and the Alzheimer's Disease Association.

He was born July 24, 1908, near Lancaster, Ky., to James M. and Ludith (Tankersley) Pointer. He grew up at Lancaster and received his early education. He attended Easter State University at Richmond, Ky. He married Gladyce B. Kronberg Sept. 23, 1933, at Lexington, Ky. He farmed for his family in Kentucky before coming to Scottsbluff in 1936. He managed the Rymer Plumbing Company in Scottsbluff for many years and was in the motel business for about 12 years. He later worked for Winterer Realty, Inc. for about 10 years before his retirement.

He was a 50 year member of Robert W. Furnas Masonic Lodge No. 265 AF&AM; Scottsbluff Elks Lodge No. 1367; former National Rifle Association instructor; and various bowling, golf and hunting associations.
