Ada P. Ard, 89, Martinsville, went to be with the Lord at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove.
She was born on Thursday, April 20, 1922 in Glasgow, Kentucky, to the late Harlan and Molly (McGuire) Staples.
In 1939 she married Robert Earl Ard and he passed away in 1963.
Ada worked for many years at Sears & Roebuck in Martinsville. She also worked at Lord's Dress Shop in Martinsville and at Cato's in Martinsville and Franklin. She was a member of the Church of Christ and lived at Ken Mar Apartments where she had many close friends.
Survivors are her son, Robert H. Ard and wife Wannetta of Smiths Grove, Kentucky; daughters, Priscilla Self and husband Jim of Summerville, South Carolina, Jackie Drake and husband Keith of Mooresville and Jo Vance of Westminster, Maryland; sister, Beatrice Skaggs of Martinsville; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, William J. Staples and her great grandson, Davey Lee Spears.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Costin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Norman Ward officiating.
Burial will be at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
