Flora had been married previously to Elmer Hedrick (1870-1899) on September 29, 1892 in Clinton County, Ohio. Flora was the mother of at least nine children. She had four children with Elmer Hendrick including: Cecil Hedrick, Leonidas Hedrick and Fred Hedrick. Flora had at least five children with Marion E. Johnson including: Helen Elizabeth, William Thomas, Dorothy, Hallie and James Johnson.
According to her marriage certificate, Flora was the daughter of R. Bean and Sabra (Hardesty) Chance. R. Bean and Sabra were not married. Her mother later married Isaac Chance, who would be her stepfather. Flora's uncle, James Hardesty, lived with her for many years. Flora died of typhoid fever at age 44.
