Leta Bellin, age 93, of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Watford City, died Monday, May 2, 1994 at the home. Funeral services will be held at the First Luthern Church in Watford City on Thursday, May 5, 1994 at 10:00 AM. Rev Ernie Christensen and Rev. Jay Reinke will officiate and burial will be in Schafer Cemetery.
Leta Bellin was born August 1, 1900 at Sauk Centre, MN., the daughter of Lawrence and Minnie (Belkie) Kummer. She attended rural school in Minnesota. At a young age, she moved with her family to her father's homestead 2 miles southeast of Johnson Corners. The family lived in a tent while their homestead house was being built. Leta worked at the hotel and cafe in Schafer and also worked as a hired girl for different farmers in the Watford City area. On November 17, 1920 she was united in marriage to Emil Bellin at her parents farm near Johnson Corners. They farmed 4 miles Southeast of Johnson Corners for many years. Their original home was a log house which they lived in for many years. Mr. Bellin died in 1971. She later moved to Watford City where she lived at Hillside Court for 20 years before entering the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in 1991.
Leta was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church in Watford City. She had been a rural Sunday School teacher. She en-joyed gardening, sewing, crocheting and was a member of the Bear Den Hobby Club.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Arno and Dorothy Bellin of Watford City, 3 grandchildren; Susan and her husband Don Roy Smith and Cynthia Bellin all of Rawlins, WY., and William Bellin and his wife Gloria Of Otis, Co. 3 great grandchildren; Joshua, Sadie and Rebekah Smith, 3 sisters; Gertrude Turnquist of Rural Arnegard, ND., Emma Veeder of Keene, ND., and Christina Seibold of Watford City, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 4 brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Fulkerson Funeral Home in Watford City on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 3:30 PM, and one hour before service time at the church on Thursday.
