Addington, JoAnn Elizabeth
From the time she was born on September 9 1937, in South Gate, Calif., JoAnn made a tremendous impact on her family and those around her. She was a force to be reckoned with standing firm on her beliefs and love for her family. Her family, her children and grandchildren, as well as her commitment to her religion were always her top priorities. In 1968 JoAnn and her family settled in Lancaster where she was active in many community groups, The Assistance League of the A.V., HI-Desert Kiwanianns, Lancaster Junior Woman's Club, the "Red Hat Society," and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she was crowned the "Valentine Queen" on two occasion. She loved giving and frequently held the office of president within many of these organizations.
For many years she was very active in her church, Sacred Heart, as well as member of the "Magnificent" a ministry to Catholic women at Father Serra Church. She was also a participant in "Our Lady of rock" activities in Rosamond. JoAnn loved life and was active in many philanthropic endeavors. She had a love for music and could play almost any instrument. She was an active member of the "High Desert Ukulele Club" and especially enjoyed playing and performing with her friend. Painting was a passion with her as all of her friends and family had many of her pictures hanging in their homes. JoAnn never compromised her personal values and as such, was a beacon of light for her family and her community. Not only will her family miss but our community lost one of the most colorful and giving individuals. She survived by her husband, Edward, her daughter Cynthia Denham her husband Bobby, grandson Christopher and Steven Ogen, daughter Teresa Turner, her husband Robert, son, John Addington and his wife Jennifer and their children Joshua and Jessica. JoAnn will surely be missed by all and was loved greatly as she loved greatly. A visitation will be from 3 to 7p.m., with Rosary at 6 p.m. Friday May 20, 2011 at Chapel of the Valley Mortuary. The Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday May 21, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lancaster, with Interment at Good Shepherd Cemetery directly following
