Leslie D. Scifers 1926-2011
STREATOR — Leslie D. Scifers, 85, of Streator, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 17, at Heritage Health Care, Streator.
Visitation will be Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Haley officiating. Burial will be in Long Point Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ron Christman, Jack Scifers, Ed Olesen, Kyle Gronewold, Jack Henderson and Bob Duvall.
Leslie was born March 12, 1926, in Minonk, to Lewis and Anna (Timmerman) Scifers. He married Ruth Mosbach on July 2, 1949. She survives.
Also surviving is sister-in-law, Shirley (Herbert) Hussemann of Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Victor and Louie Scifers; and sister, Mildred Snow.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Smith-Douglas in 1981. He was a 50-year member of the Streator Moose Lodge and a member of First United Methodist Church.
