The evidence is overwhelming that John B. Stinson married Miss Matilda Payne. [From:50 years of research by Mary Stinson-Claunch-Lane-Walthall.]

Note: John and Matilda named a son, Berry Payne Stinson.

John Brazzill Stinson is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Evansville, Indiana. He was a Cooper by trade and made water vessels of all kinds. He was also a minister in the General Baptist Church along with his 2 brothers, Benoni Stinson and Lewis Cobb Stinson. On Jan. 3, 1818 he was commissioned as Sheriff of Vanderburgh County, Indiana by Governor Jennings. On May 9, 1821 he was commissioned Major of the 10th Regiment of Militia of the State of Indiana. He also served as Probate Judge in Vanderburgh Co., Indiana. He is listed in the 1790 Census of Pendleton Co., South Carolina.

The 1850 Mortality Schedule of Indiana shows that John B. Stinson age 62 was born in Georgia and died of Lung fever. He was ill for 17 days. He resided in Perry Twp. and was a farmer.

John B. Stinson married Matilda Payne 11 July 1807 in Sandy Ridge, Kentucky. I have not been able to find the county in which Sandy Ridge is located.
