Below is an excerpt posted by someone else that contradicts the headstone. Headstone states John was 53 when he passed, my records give his birth-date as 15Feb1819. There are several John Ball's , it is possible some information has been mistakenly associated. Please message me if you have further information! (Teri)

"Rev. John C. Ball, died in Lock's Village, Mass, Feb. 4, 1872, aged 33 years. He became a Christian when quite young and united with the church in Ashfield, Mass. He began to preach in 1862 and was ordained at the September Quarterly Meeting in 1867. His ministry was mostly in this Q.M. He preached as he had opportunity in Leverett, Shutesbury and Ashfield, Mass, till 1868, when he became pastor of the church in Straton, VT and preached also for the West Jamaica church. His death was most painful. While watching with a sick daughter, he fell asleep and overturned the lamp. The oil saturated his clothes so that he was fatally burned before he could be relieved, this was in Lockes Village. He was a devoted and consistent Christian, and willing to do what he could."
---from "Free Baptist Cyclopedia," pub. 1889, by Burgess and Ward.
